Then, he joins his monster friends at an isolated area where they camp and enjoy games together - until the mosquitoes discover Manipogo is TASTY! About Manipogo:
Canada has more lakes than any other country in the world, so it should not be a surprise that it is also home to many of the world's most marvelous lake monsters, One of these monsters is said to live in Lake Manitoba. There is an oral history passed down by the Indigenous and Metis peoples living the area that says the lake has been home to mysterious serpent creatures for many generations.
The name Manipogo was first used to describe the creature about 1960. One of the most famous sightings happened in 1962. Two fishermen reportedly chased the serpent while taking three blurry photos and the story made headlines across the country. Today, there is even a provincial park and campground on the lakeshore named after Manipogo.
No one is sure how big Manipogo is, but most reports describe the creature as being between 4 and 16 metres long. Is it just a coincidence that a 13 metre skeleton fossil of a swimming dinosaur called a Mosasaur was also found in the area? Could it be a distant relative of Manipogo? That fossil (named Bruce) is on display at the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre in Morden, Manitoba.
